What To DO? More Like What I NEED To DO!

Well, went and talked to the recruiters today :)
Went and talked to two different branches… Air Force and Navy.  I figured I would start with them to get a feel for what the requirements were and what I would need to do to be eligible.

First of all, both branches have a top-age limit of 34, (whew), so I’m all good there… (I’m 29, btw, not sure if I ever said that here).

Now, some of the somewhat bad news… both branches require certain body ratios, (I was obviously expecting this)… what I WASN’T prepared ENOUGH for was what that ratio would be.  Both branches were pretty similar… at 6′1″, the max body weight the Air Force would take was 207, the Navy was 208… OUCH.  I haven’t admittedly been that light since back in H.S….

Granted a year ago that would have been ABSOLUTELY IMPOSSIBLE sounding, (i.e. when I weighed 349), but now I have been fluctuating between 249-255… so while I have lost 100lbs, according to this I will need to lose another 40-45lbs… a DOABLE task, but it will take a MAJOR refocus from me to get anywhere close to this.

So… at the moment, the military will have to be put on hold as I try to lose some of this fatness… :P blah.

Other than that, a good day!  Thank you all so much for the kind and supportive comments on my last post!  I’ll keep ya’ll updated :D

  • Good start. Now you have a plan. And a mission.

  • @ Ralph – Ty, i agree… albeit a bit of an overwelming task right now, but so was losing 100lbs, so I’m ready :)

  • You may not be there, but it is within reach. If you want this, you can do it!

  • Actually, Your goal was 225 so you only need to lose 18 more. Now, set a date to go back to the recruiters and post your progress and efforts.

  • You already lost so much weight, losing that teeny weeny bit is easy for ya!

    Good day ahead, Nino!

  • @SBS – that’s what I keep telling myself :) I CAN DO IT! :D

@ Ralph – goal-setting hasn’t always been my strong suit, but maybe I’ll make an exception this time :)

    @ Shingo – thanks man! :D

  • Maybe you need a nagger? My suggestion is to update your fitness pal with the new parameters and put a date on it – realistic based on your best efforts so far but aggressive in pushing you a bit. What will you be doing (resuming, adding, etc.)? Then start posting about it for reinforcement, encouragement, etc. That’s my two cents but, of course, it’s your life.
